Sochaux saves its place in League 2!

The Sochalians ensured their continuation in Ligue 2 on the last day by beating 3-1 at home and behind closed doors Grenoble. 18th at kickoff, Sochaux had to win to avoid the descent.

The young lions cubs started the game well, opening the scoring in the 10th on a free kick. In the middle of a passive defence, Olivier Verdon throws himself at the second pole and sends the ball to the bottom of the nets. The Sochalians dominate the match and Yohan Mollo has a great opportunity, but his shot goes right by the cages. At the break, Sochaux logically leads 1-0.

After the break, Grenoble throws a cold equalizing the 51st by Romain Grange on a free kick very similar to that of the Sochalians in the first period. But Sochaux pushes and Cyrille Bayala offers the 2nd goal to his team, recovering a misshapen ball by the keeper. At the 83rd, Franck Etoundi leaves alone in goal and misleads Papa Demba Camara on a cross shot at the end of the race. A third goal that shelters the Sochalians and Momo Sissoko entered during the match. Players finally let their joy rejoice at the final whistle! At the same time, Paris FC beat Gazelec Ajaccio and Troyes conceded a draw against AC Ajaccio, the two direct opponents for maintenance.

Sochaux finished the 16th season with 41 points, ahead of AC Ajaccio 17th with 40 points. Gazélec is barragiste while Béziers despite his victory over Nancy 3-0 will come down in National.
